Search Engine Optimisation Tips
You
could be forgiven for thinking that Google searches the
Internet a search is conducted on Google. The truth is that
Google deploys a 'robot' to constantly surf the Internet.
It harvests the web pages that it finds and consequently
adds it to the Google database. So, if your website isn't
on Google's database, it will not be found when anyone searches
Google.
How
do you get the robot to find your website?
There
are two ways; the first is to submit it to Google, you might
wait a few months whilst it languishes among the billions
of other URLs in the line, or the second option is to put
your website link on another that has already been indexed
by Google and is re-visited by the robots on a regular basis.
You also need to make sure that Google's robot finds the
correct information on your website in order that it records
the right information about your website in Google's database.
There
are no shortcuts to high rankings on Google.
If
someone promises you a cheap and quick solution, be very
sceptical, you might even see a temporary high ranking but
mark my words; you'll soon drop down if sharp practices
are used.
Optimise
the structure of your web page back office. You've probably
heard the phrase WYSISYG (Wizziwig), What You See Is What
You Get. This is an exception to the rule because Google's
robot does not see web pages as you can see. them Google
robot sees the code can glean all information from it. With
this in mind, you need to make sure that the HTML code of
your pages contains everything in the right places so that
Google's robot can record all the right information to Google's
database.
This
is where a web designer may cringe because as much as they
might be an excellent professional website designer; SEO
(Search Engine Optimisation) is generally a skill for search
engine consultants. A single web page has a plethora of
elements that can be read by Google's robot: to name a few;
title tag, meta tags, headline tags, links, keywords in
the body text, and so-on.
All
elements must be in the right order and certainly contain
your keywords in the right weight and density if you want
to get high rankings for those particular keywords. Don't
try and pull the wool over Google's eyes. Google is very
demanding and you should give Google's robot exactly what
it wants. Cheat at your peril! Someone may offer you a shortcut
or a 'Google secret to High Rankings' but any honest Search
Engine Consultant will advise you to pamper to Google.
